It’s Year of Young People 2018 which is all about giving young people a platform for their voices and ideas to be heard by decision makers!

As part of the YoYP 2018, the Scottish Government want to hear from you on the issues that matter to you. With the UK in the process of leaving the European Union, it’s more important than ever for us to hear how you think Scotland can continue to make a difference around the world.

Are you passionate about the environment and want to put a stop to climate change? Do you want to stand up for inequality? Or tackle ‘fake news’ online? Whatever your ideas, the International Futures team at the Scottish Government want to hear from you!

To enter, you will need to answer the following question: How do you think Scotland can make a difference in the world and issues affecting the planet and citizens?

When you enter you can be creative as you like - it could be a letter, vlog, poster or article. You can enter as an individual or group! If you're successful, you can get the chance to share your ideas with Scottish Ministers and a win a prize to develop your idea further!

The important stuff:

  • Deadline is midnight on 9 December
  • Each entry must be from an individual, a group of up to 4 young people or a primary or secondary school class
  • A parent, guardian, youth worker or teacher must be the point of contact for all entries with young people under 16
  • You can get help and advice to help with your idea but the final entry must come from young people
  • Written applications must be no more than 1000 words, and videos no more than 7 minutes
  • Entries 18-26 must submit a short paragraph (no more than 200 words) explaining how you would use the £1500 prize to further your research or implement your idea
  • Entries will be judged by a group of young people and Scottish Government officials
